"The bag is sensual, not only because of its aphrodisiac terminology but because the shape is deliciously feminine." -Liana Satenstein (Substack, We'll never see a Fendi Oyster bag again)
On the Fendi Fall 2002 runway, the Oyster also known as the Ostrik made its debut. Featured in various variations in size and material, from fur embellishments, wood panels to the iconic zucca print. The Oyster managed to amalgamate the bag and the accessory into one.
Notable in fashion media:
- Featured in the March 2002 Vogue issue in a maximalist Raymond Meier editorial. The caption deemed the piece “spring’s most-wanted bag.” (The bag’s design was inspired by a pair of beaten copper Carlo Bugatti console tables in Ms. Fendi’s home.) -Liana Satenstein
